While technically part of Roger Corman's series of Edgar Allan Poe adaptations, 1963's "The Haunted Palace" is actually adapted from H.P. Lovecraft's "The Case of Charles Dexter Ward." Lovecraft might have liked having wormed his way into Poe's legacy. In 1963 Lovecraft hadn't earned the acclaim of Poe. Ironically, he's since eclipsed his idol's stature, at least in terms of pop culture relevance.
This print is available in two versions: one with the film's release title, the second with Lovecraft's original story title.
