When I had the idea to create Hammer/Amicus/Trigon-style horror movie posters for the primary characters of What We Do in the Shadows, it seemed likely that I'd have to deviate somewhat from that initial concept before it was done. For Guillermo de la Cruz, familiar, handyman and slave to Nandor the Relentless, I cheated a little but taking him back to the days of Universal's monster movies. Guillermo is a romantic at heart ... he'd have to be to have such idealized notions of what being a vampire might be like.
