Alice Cooper Movie Listings | 11x17 Art Print

A few years ago, I made a poster based on The Cramps album "Songs the Lord Taught Us" as a excuse to stretch those muscles. I followed that with a similar idea for Rob Zombie's "Hellbilly Deluxe," because his cinematic sensibilities was a perfect fit. (In between was a poster for the songs of The Misfits based on 1970s Marvel Comics house ads.) The Rob Zombie poster solidified the concept, which was followed by similar posters for Blue Öyster Cult and Ghost.

Looking back, it's weird that Alice Cooper wasn't my first choice.

I tried to select a bunch of songs from his entire career, which was tough because Alice has been at this since the 1960s. My bias for particular eras is probably evident here, but it also felt best to lean toward songs with cinematic song titles. Which means "I'm 18" didn't get an obvious reference, and "School's Out" was shuttled to the fine print. Both are iron-clad classics, but their titles don't really work with the Time Square Circa 1976 vibe.
