Before making a hard turn into horror punk territory with the Misfts, Glenn Danzig's musical obsession was trash culture. The early songs fixated on people like Patty Hearst, "Jackie Oh!" by Kitty Kelley, Kenneth Anger's book "Hollywood Babylon," and the magazine "Violent World," all of it greased down to greasy sheen. He also wrote and recored a solo track called "Who Killed Marilyn?," about the sensational conspiracy theories surrounding the death of Marilyn Monroe. It's a fascinating moment in Danzig's career, at least to me. I wonder what might have happened (if anything) had he continued down that noir/tabloid track. But I'm not complaining about what we got. This piece is my tribute to that moment.
